Belden adds the OZD Profi G12 ATEX 1 device to its Hirschmann™ range of products

The optical ports also have EX op-is approval. With a transfer rate of up to 12 Mbps, the repeater is available with a stainless steel or plastic housing. The optical function module, which has its own Ex approval, is also available without housing. This enables it to be installed in the same housing as other components, so saving valuable space. It is possible to continuously monitor the optical performance of the FO repeater, which also supports ring redundancy, using signal strength outputs which can be integrated in the process control system.

Hirschmann™ OZD Profi G12 ATEX 1 can therefore be used in any explosion protection zone 1 situation where a fast and reliable Profibus FO repeater is required.

This includes large chemical plants, oil refineries and drilling platforms. In addition, this repeater will also be the device of choice in food industry scenarios where there is a need to reduce the risk of dust explosions during milling. This new Hirschmann™ repeater is fully compatible with all the other devices in the OZD Profi family. These are suitable for implementing highly available Profibus networks outside of hazardous location zone 1.
