OpenBAT platform from Hirschmann™ sets new standards for wireless LAN

Its combination of high data rates, optimum reliability and maximum flexibility makes the new OpenBAT platform from Hirschmann™ the most effective wireless LAN solution for automation applications. Key features are the patented Clear Space® technology and the integrated ESD protection. These are supplemented by the capability of configuring access points and clients via the Internet so that they precisely meet your individual requirements.

Thanks to Clear Space®, a technology that reliably eliminates interfering frequencies, you are able to maintain stable wireless LAN connections. The integrated ESD protection withstands electrostatic discharges while increasing the lifespan of the hardware reducing your total cost of ownership. What's more, because you require no additional surge protection devices, you save on purchasing costs as well as avoiding the need for extra installation space.

The access points and clients of the new OpenBAT platform can be used to implement wireless LAN solutions in a wide range of different industries e.g for flexible and cost-effective video monitoring of processes and production equipment in factories.

They can also be employed in the energy sector, permitting remote network access from any location within a refinery or wind park, increasing the efficiency of service technicians. In the power generation and distribution sector, OpenBAT permits you to set up wireless communication of excellent quality over large distances. It also enables mobile network connections to be set up alongside the conveyor belts in opencast mines.

The access points and clients can be equipped with up to two wireless modules featuring Clear Space® technology and ESD protection. Each of these modules has an integrated bandpass filter operating in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz band and removing interfering radio frequencies. This markedly reduces the noise level and almost entirely prevents packet losses. The ESD protection also present in each module is able to withstand electrostatic discharges of up to 25kV.
