Integrated power supply in OCTOPUS PoE switches cuts cabling requirements, maximizes operational reliability and cost-effectiveness
These new switches, available with a 24-48 V or 72-110 V power supply, offer maximum operational reliability, thanks to their reduced cabling requirements compared to switches with an external power supply unit. This minimizes possible installation errors while also reducing the cost of both installation and maintenance.
The extremely compact design of these network devices also means they can be installed even where space is at a premium - for example in trains, subway vehicles and buses. In addition, PoE Plus designs provide a cost-effective way of powering terminal devices via the data cable –without any additional wiring.
The OCTOPUS switches are extremely robust: they are affected neither by arctic cold nor tropical heat, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C; they also fulfil the EMC and fire prevention requirements of European standards governing use in rail vehicles.
Two of the four versions are unmanaged 10-port switches with industrial protection class IP54. The other two, which satisfy the requirements of industrial protection class IP67, each have nine ports and feature Hirschmann’s “layer 2” basic software, which incorporates a variety of management and security functions and fast redundancy methods.
All four OCTOPUS switches come in compact die-cast zinc housings measuring only 184 x 189 x 70 mm.
